On Friday, August 12, 2005, at 1:30 in the morning, Mae started whelping.  She did a fantastic job and was finished by 4:30 a.m. with five beautiful puppies, three girls and two boys.  Each had very nice markings with four white feet and white tail tips.  I was very tired and laid down on the floor on my sleeping bag and pillow to try to get in a quick nap.  At 6 a.m., RaeAnn got up to take her turn sitting with Mae and the puppies since she had abandoned me the night before around 2:00 a.m. (I'm tooooooo tired, mom). Since she was with Mae and the pups, I decided to go to bed.  At 7:20 a.m., RaeAnn woke me because Mae was acting very weird.  Whoa! Looked like she had one more puppy to deliver.  Benny arrived at 7:30 a.m.  He was in no distress, although he was a bit smaller than the rest. (He has since made up for that!)  Mae then settled in and went to sleep.
